Adrian Yu, Managing Director of Thunder Match Technology, gives a brief on the company’s history leading up to the creation of the STOM brand.
Malaysia now has another local PC devices brand in STOM. The new brand is the brain child of IT chain store, Thunder Match Technology (TMT) Sdn. Bhd., with its debut products being the STOM SPECTRUM i100 and STOM PC Stick.
The STOM SPECTRUM i100 is a small 2-in-1 device in a lightweight aluminium body. It features a 1.33 GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM and 64GB of flash storage, enough for basic computing needs. What’s key is that the product provides a small and affordable device with access to Windows 10 applications, a fact echoed by Adrian Yu, Managing Director of Thunder Match Technology Sdn. Bhd. “Now running over 270 million devices around the world, Windows 10 enables the i100 to offer the full range of all-new universal apps such as Netflix, YouTube, and Office 365,” he said.
TMT has partnered with Microsoft and Intel Malaysia to complete the STOM devices, with the SPECTRUM i100 drawing inspiration from Microsoft’s own Surface Pro. The SPECTRUM i100 is a tablet that transforms into laptop by docking with the included keyboard.
As for the STOM PC Stick, it is a device as small as a USB thumb drive that can transform your large display into a computer. All you have to do is plug this device into the HDMI port of a monitor or a TV, use a wireless keyboard and mouse, and voila – you have a PC! Like the SPECTRUM i100, this device is based on a partner’s device – specifically Intel Malaysia’s Compute Stick.
Present at the launch, Bruce Howe who is General Manager of Microsoft Malaysia’s Consumer Channel Group, congratulated TMT on the launch of the new devices. He said: “We are delighted to support and work together with local partners such as Thunder Match Technology to bring in these fantastic Windows 10 devices to the market. The STOM SPECTRUM i100 and the STOM PC Stick allows more people to experience the power of Windows 10 and what personal computing really means – with features that are more natural and trusted, that also extend across devices.”
Both devices are now available at all TMT stores nationwide, as well as through partner channels. The SPECTRUM i100 has been priced at an affordable RM1,099, while the PC Stick is retailing for RM599. Thunder Match Technology will also provide a one-year local warranty for parts and labour.
