On the 26th of September, we were invited to the launch of the Surface Pro at Colony @KLCC. The new Surface Pro boasts several new features compared to its older counterpart, and along with the Surface Pro, new accessories were also shown, such as the new Surface Pen and new Surface Pro Signature Type Cover.
The Surface Pro comes with several configurations – 7th Generation Intel Core m3, i5 or i7, 4GB to 16GB of DDR3 RAM, up to 512GB of SSD or 1TB of PCIe NVMe, a 12.3-inch Pixel Sense Display with 2736 x 1824 of resolution, and it features a fan-less design, and parts of the internal of the device is built with graphite. It makes the device lighter and it dissipates heat easier compared to the previous generations. Aside from that, the new Surface Pro comes with a bigger battery, and up to 13.5 hours of video playback, and boasts about 50% more battery life than the previous generation. Despite that addition, the Surface Pro is still 40 grams less than the Surface 4.
For creative workers, Microsoft has also included a new Studio Mode, which gives the device a slight raise compared to flat on the table, and angles it towards you so you can draw, scribble and write notes on the device without stretching your neck. Speaking of creativity, the new Surface Pen aims to deliver the best writing, creating, drawing and browsing experience to you. It is optimised for the new Surface Pro, and with its accurate inking, you can draw with ease. It features the lowest latency Pen in the industry with only 21 milliseconds of latency. It also has 4x higher pressure sensor compared to the previous generation of Surface Pen.
As for the Type Cover, it is made of Alcantara, a suede-like luxury material from Italy which is normally used in expensive cars, yachts and aircraft interiors. They keyboard on the Type Cover is equipped with full 1.3mm travel keys which allows you to type 10% faster compared to previous generations.

As for the Surface Pro Signature Type Cover, it is priced at RM 669, and comes in Platinum, Burgundy and Cobalt Blue. The Surface Pen comes in Platinum, Black, Burgundy and Cobalt Blue, and is priced at RM 299. The Surface Pen is also compatible with the older generation devices, but the older devices would not be able to fully enjoy the enhanced pressure sensor of the Surface Pen.
