All new to Malaysian shores is a pair of Microsoft Windows smartphones – the Lumia 950 and 950XL. Microsoft Malaysia has brought the two new flagship devices to our shores, showcasing them at a media launch yesterday. The new devices are the first to run on Windows 10.
In addition, Microsoft Malaysia has partnered with Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd to offer bundles that contain a new Lumia 950 or 950XL and a Digi phone plan. These plans are targeted at business professionals in Malaysia.
Users of Windows 10 will be thrilled with the two new smartphones as both run on Microsoft’s latest operating system. This offers an element of familiarity and consistency in user experience, extending from the PC to even the mobile device now. The two new smartphones both come with Quad HD displays, the new 20-megapixel PureView cameras with triple LED flash, high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, and both come pre-loaded with Windows 10.
With amazing features like Continuum and Windows Hello beta, the Lumia 950 and 950XL are not only secure but also aid in productivity. When connected with the optional Microsoft Display Dock, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL can be displayed on a bigger screen for not just work purposes but also entertainment. By adding the use of a keyboard and mouse, users of the new devices can have a PC-like user experience if they want to.
The other key feature of the new phones is the powerful camera. Now even better, Microsoft’s PureView Technology offers a camera with a 20-megapixel sensor. It comes with a triple LED flash, capable of capturing colour accurate photos in many types of conditions.
Jon French, General of Microsoft Mobile Device Sales (MMDS) for Asia Pacific had this to say: “Business professionals who want a premium phone that can work like a PC now have the perfect partner for their Windows devices in Lumia 950 and 950 XL. With full Windows 10 and features like Continuum for phone, it’s easy to do more than ever from your phone whether you’re in the office, at home or on the road. These are the phones that Windows fans and business professionals in Malaysia have been waiting for: powerful, productive, performance-driven, unique and innovative.”
The two Lumia devices are now available. They can be pre-ordered from the Microsoft Online Store on Lazada, or purchased from retail stores at participating Microsoft Mobile Resellers beginning on the 18 December 2015, for a retail price of RM2,699 (Lumia 950) and RM2,999 (Lumia 950 XL) respectively. The first 100 customers to buy either one of the smartphone will also get the Microsoft Display Dock, which is worth RM309.
