Whilst a lot of big product announcements happened at Barcelona during Mobile World Congress last week, iPro, a Malaysian company stands defiant as they announced the debut of an Intel-based Windows tablet in the form of the iPro LIVEPAD 8.9 here in Kuala Lumpur.

The tablet, sporting an 8.9 inch display, as the name shows, is powered by Intel’s Z3754F Quad-Core processor, running Windows 8.1, which is ideal for both productivity and entertainment purposes. It also has 2GBs of DDR3 RAM, a storage option of 16GB and packs an 8,000mAh battery that allows the tablet to run for more than 10 hours.

The iPro LIVEPAD 8.9 features a 8.9 inch display, with a resolution of 1,920x1,200, powered by Intel Z3547F, 2GBs of RAM and 16 GBs of storage space

“We are proud to present our very first 8.9 inch tablet based on the Intel Atom processor, and hope that our customers will be blown away by the full Windows 8.1 PC experience in its slim, streamlined form factor” said Daniel Chia, Head of Sales and Marketing, IPRO Mobile Sdn Bhd.

The build quality of the LIVEPAD 8.9 is what sets it apart from other tablets in its price range. Its chassis is made of C&C-milled aluminum and reinforced by front and rear glass covers that also gives it a glossy look. The 8.9 inch display also has a resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels, which makes it a great tablet for movie-watching.

For those who are worried about the tablet not having enough space for apps and files, fret not as it also has a microSD card slot which allows users to expand the storage of the LIVEPAD 8.9 up to 128GBs.

In conjunction with the launch of the tablet, the first 500 owners of the LIVEPAD 8.9 also receive a free keyboard and a pouch worth RM199 with every unit purchased for an introductory price of RM699, all of which were snapped up in the first two days of the promotion.

The chassis of the LIVEPAD 8.9 tablet is made of C&C-milled aluminum, and as far as connectivity goes it has a DisplayPort to connect the tablet to an external display, and a microUSB port to charge its 8,000mAh battery.
