Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3 tablet has proven itself to be one of the go-to devices for work and play, what with its compact form factor, yet powerful specs hidden within. That said, the device comes at a premium price, which not everyone is able to afford.

With that in mind, Microsoft Malaysia has recently unveiled the availability of the new Microsoft Surface 3, running on Intel’s Atom X7-Z8700 processor. As unveiled at a media preview event, Malaysians will be able to choose between two models, one which comes with 2GBs of RAM and 64GBs of storage, as well as a 4GB RAM model that comes with 128GBs of storage.

Similar to the Surface Pro 3, the Surface 3 comes with a 3:2 display ratio, with the screen itself coming in at a 10.8 inch size, with a resolution of 1,920×1,280 pixels. Similar to the Surface Pro 3, this particular tablet also comes with one USB 3.0 port, one DisplayPort and a MicroSD card reader.

“The response to Surface in Malaysia has been fantastic, and we are excited to see the newest member to this family of devices. Its introduction to the Malaysian market only demonstrates our unwavering commitment in enabling both productivity and mobility – that is, making most of moments that matter, whether you’re at school, at work, or even on the go,” said Andres Sirel, Windows Business Group Lead, Microsoft Malaysia.

Thanks to the new Atom X7 processor used in the Surface 3 tablet, it also has a long-lasting battery life of 10 hours, making it the perfect device to use if you’re ever out of the office for long periods of time, and don’t want to trouble yourself with bringing along a power brick.

That’s not all of course, as the Surface 3 comes installed with Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 operating system, and is eligible for an upgrade to Windows 10 when the new operating system is available in the market.

Priced at RM1,989 and RM2,389 for the 2GB RAM, 64GB storage and 4GB RAM, 128GB storage respectively, potential customers can start to pre-order the Microsoft Surface 3 from a host of retailers, such as Aone Plus, Harvey Norman, All IT Hypermart, SenHeng Electric & SenQ Digital Station from now til May 5th when the Surface 3 will be available for retail purchase nationwide.
